Texas Adjuster License Types
Public Adjuster versus All Lines Adjuster
The Public Adjuster is hired by a homeowner and is paid a fee by that homeowner to act as an expert claim consultant when:
✦ The claim is particularly complex, and the homeowner finds dealing with it to be overwhelming
✦ The homeowner finds the Adjuster assigned by the insurance company too difficult to deal with
✦ The homeowner believes there is covered damage and the insurer's adjuster says there is none
✦ The insurer's adjuster submits an estimate that the homeowner believes to be incomplete and inaccurate
The All Lines Adjuster represents and is paid by the Insurance Company to handle its claims . As an employee (Staff Adjuster) or as an Independent Adjuster (under a contract for services.)
There is a separate exam and license for each discipline. It is possible to hold both licenses, though most practitioners commit to one or the other.
